God, the guardian

For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a stone. (Psalm 91: 11-12 NRSV)
In a world as crazy as this one seems these days, it is reassuring to be reminded that God is in charge and is paying attention!
God and God’s angels are looking after us, even when the world is violent, hatred is rampant, and anger is everywhere.
Our little planet and its inhabitants have had a rough time of it lately. Hurricanes, volcanoes, floods, wildfires and murderous madmen with guns in their hands and mayhem in their hearts.
We will survive. There will be more catastrophes (natural or manmade), and, even so, most of us will get through.
Hopefully, we will take care of each other, look after those who need help, offer assistance to friends and strangers, and generally be kind to one another.
In the process, I hope we learn some things about ourselves, about each other, about this dear little planet we inhabit, and about our Maker! I hope we will learn how to be good stewards of this world and make it a better, friendlier, kinder place.
I hope we examine our own hearts and minds, and root out any ugliness we find there.
I hope we will realize that this is our dear little home, and that God is watching us, hoping we will someday live up to the ideal He created in Eden: where everything was beautiful and loving and safe.
So, let’s pray for each other, take care of each other, find ways to help each other, and enjoy each other!
God would be so pleased if we could return to Eden!
