Girl Scouts boost Emerald Youth Foundation

“Girl Scouts in service unit 255 decided to support a local organization focused on meeting the needs of youth in Knoxville, so they voted to work with the Emerald Youth Foundation. This service unit is made up of many troops that meet at Pellissippi Sate, Rocky Hill Baptist Church, Sequoyah Elementary and Deane Hill Recreation Center.

The Girl Scouts spent the month of June collecting and purchasing school supplies, toiletries and snacks. The Emerald Youth Foundation has six off-site locations and serves 15,000 youth in underserved neighborhoods in Knoxville, so they were in much need of supplies to help stock each location.

The girls were able to donate over $600 worth of these much-needed items and delivered them on July 1. These go-getting, dedicated girls and volunteers worked hard to make an impact and benefit their community!
