Artsclamation! Art Sale is Saturday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rothchild Catering and Conference Center, 8807 Kingston Pike. The annual fundraiser benefits patients and families of Peninsula, the behavioral health division of Parkwest Medical Center.

Showcasing over 40 regional artists, the sale will present works on display in a variety of media ranging from paintings to pottery and jewelry and items will be for sale to the general public. This drop-in event is free to attend and open to the public. No tickets are required.

Funds generated through the 2019 Artsclamation! art sale will support several projects at Peninsula Hospital, including purchasing transportation vans to help individuals access outpatient services and renovating the admitting lobby to create a more inviting environment with designated areas for patients to speak with admitting staff members.

“It is so exciting for me when the community gets together to rally around mental health in a positive way,” says Elizabeth Clary, BSN, RN, MHA, and Peninsula’s vice president of behavioral health. “With the funds raised by Artsclamation!, we can look ahead toward the future and enhance our patients’ lives, both while in treatment and beyond.”

Artsclamation! is Peninsula’s only fundraiser, and many artists return each year to support the cause of mental health. Featured artists this year are Mary Saylor, a paper mâché sculptor, and Margaret Luttrell, a painter, both from Knoxville.

Saylor dabbles in various creative media including drawing, quilting, painting, woodcarving and clay, but recently has focused on paper mâché sculptures. Her profound love of all animals great and small inspires her whimsical, humorous animal sculptures.

Luttrell is an encaustic mixed media painter. In her Knoxville studio, she paints with beeswax, resin and pigment, then fuses them with heat. Her creations become figurative containers for the legends and Greek myths that entrance and inspire her art.

Peninsula has helped thousands of people recover from disorders and dependencies to lead healthy, productive lives. Peninsula provides inpatient and outpatient services for children, adolescents and adults in Knox and nearby counties, including individual and group therapy, specialized programs and peer support groups. Behavioral care is also provided at Parkwest Medical Center for senior adults with co-existing psychiatric and medical conditions.
