Farragut Museum to close for renovations

Jay FitzFarragut

The Farragut Museum will temporarily close after regular museum hours (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) on Wednesday, May 31, to prepare for interior renovations at Farragut Town Hall. The current estimate is that construction will begin in early fall and require a closure of 12-18 months.

Beginning in June, all museum artifacts will be placed in climate-controlled storage until the museum reopens. When renovations are complete, the museum will have several improvements, including an exterior public entrance that will allow for evening and weekend hours.

The entire Town Hall is being renovated and all staff will move out, said Wendy Smith, PR and marketing coordinator for the town of Farragut.

While Town Hall is closed, museum staff and volunteers will continue to provide educational opportunities to the community. Anyone who is interested in assisting with off-site history presentations can email staff at museum@townoffarragut.org.
