Faith N Friends Horse Rescue to resume summer camps

Jay FitzEast Knox, Our Town Youth

Faith N Friends Horse Rescue and Sanctuary will hold camps throughout summer 2022 after a two-year pause for the pandemic. The camps for students in grades 1-6 will consist of horse-related activities including arts and crafts, games, riding lessons and lessons on horse care.

Activities build self-esteem while encouraging the development of fine motor skills and enhancement of social skills, organizers said. Interaction with horses, such as grooming and other care, provides various positive and therapeutic benefits for participants.

“Horses provide a mirror for people,” said Faith. “They reflect the care and compassion they are given. They can help a child or adult identify their own emotions and through their care, they can help instill a work ethic and sense of responsibility.”

Camps will be held July 11-13. Additional camps can be opened if participants sign up. Camps reserved for participants with special needs will be held June 27-29 and July 25-27. All sessions will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., rain or shine.

Registration information can be found on the Faith N Friends website or Facebook events page. Contact Elle at ellem@faithnfriends.org with registration questions or concerns.
