Emerald Youth marks 30 years

Emerald Youth Foundation Legacy Dinner honoring Alvin Nance and celebrating the organization’s 30th anniversary drew some 900 people Nov. 16 at Knoxville Convention Center.

Nance is chief executive officer of development for Knoxville-based LHP Capital LLC. He served a 14-year tenure as executive director and CEO of Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation, the public housing and redevelopment authority for the city of Knoxville, during which he served on the staffs of Mayors Victor Ashe, Bill Haslam and Madeline Rogero.

Throughout his career, Nance has volunteered his time and talent to numerous community organizations, including Emerald Youth and Emerald Charter Schools, and he currently serves as chair of the new Knoxville-Knox County Sports Authority Board. He is a man of strong faith and much talent who is devoted to making a legacy investment in Knoxville’s young people and families. Emerald Youth is proud to honor him as the 2021 Legacy Award recipient.

Notes: Emerald Youth Foundation is participating in the United States Department of Agriculture’s Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) through Sept. 30, 2022.

CACFP provides snacks after school, at no separate charge, to young people who participate in Emerald Youth’s programs at Laurel Church of Christ, 3457 Kingston Pike, and Emerald Youth Foundation facilities at 1718 North Central Street, 601 College Street and 1740 Texas Avenue.
