Deadline soon for master gardener program

Jay FitzOur Town Outdoors, West Knoxville

The UT-TSU Extension – Knox County Master Gardener volunteer training program is now accepting applications for the 2022 class. If you are passionate about non-commercial horticulture and serving in the community, then there’s a lot of fantastic research-based information available through the program.

Learn how to produce and garden like this.

Master Gardeners receive training in a variety of topics including botany, vegetable growing, soil science, water management, landscape design, ornamentals, and much more. After completion of the training, volunteers then serve in the community to educate civic organizations, school groups and others about plants, gardening, and the environment.

Registration is open to residents of Knox and surrounding counties. Training meetings will be held every Friday morning from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Jan. 14, 2022, through April 29, 2022. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 15, 2021. For more information about the training or to apply, contact the Knox County Master Gardener program coordinator, Rylan Thompson, at 865-215-4593 or cthomp55@ tnstate.edu.
