Christian Academy of Knoxville has promoted Christa Margene to director of marketing and communications. For the past several months, Margene has been handling all of CAK’s communications and marketing needs on an interim basis. She had served as the store manager of CAK Outfitters for three and a half years and the assistant to Julya Johnson, the former director of marketing and communications, for a year and a half.

“Christa’s background and degree in communications along with her experience and knowledge of CAK made her a natural fit for her new position,” says Brian Lawhorn, chief administrative officer. “Christa has already proven to be a tremendous asset to the Advancement team.”

Prior to joining CAK, Margene worked at Scripps Networks as a scheduling and production coordinator before becoming a stay-at-home mom. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Cedarville University.

“I am excited to be serving CAK in this role. I have the honor and privilege of telling the story of CAK, and what a wonderful story it is! I believe what we are doing at CAK for the testimony of Jesus Christ will carry forward to future generations,” she said.

Hers is a CAK family. Christa and her husband, Jere, (8th-grade history) have been married for 20 years. They have three children, Eli (8th), Isaac (5th), and Natalie (3rd) who all attend CAK. The family attends Central Baptist Church of Bearden. Outside of work, Christa enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies and traveling.
