CAK goes ‘under the sea’

Jay FitzOur Town Neighbors, West Knox County

Join Christian Academy of Knoxville for a magical evening “under the sea” as the high school theatre group presents Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”

Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 7-9, 7 p.m. each day with a matinee at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Ticket info here.

The play revolves around Ariel, 16, a rebellious mermaid who is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, she falls for a human prince, Eric. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human for three days. But then her controlling father, King Triton, finds out and the plan unravels.

The film was released in 1989 but is set for re-release in 2023.

CAK has a thriving musical theatre department with four directors: Amy Brock handles high school music; Bradley Thompson teaches middle school music; and Sarah Cummings and Ashley Zacher are elementary school music directors.
