Best-selling author Denise Kiernan to speak here Oct. 5

Denise Kiernan, author of “The Last Castle: The Epic Story of Love, Loss and American Royalty in the Nation’s Largest Home,” will speak about her book at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 South Gay St., Thursday, Oct. 5.

The occasion is an evening with Denise Keirnan hosted by Friends of the Knox County Public Library, the Knox County Public Library, Union Ave Books, and the East Tennessee Historical Society. Following a 6 p.m. reception, Kiernan will speak at 7 p.m.

The book is the story behind the Gilded Age mansion, Biltmore. Kiernan is best-selling author of “The Girls of Atomic City.”

Tickets are $10 and will be available Sept. 13 through Friends of the Knox County Public Library,  at Union Ave Books, and at the Friends@Rothrock Used Book Shop.

Ticket holders may buy copies of “The Last Castle” from Union Ave Books at the event at a 10 percent discount.

  • Oct. 15 book signing 2-4 p.m. with memoirist Jim Minick, reading from “Fire Is Your Water.”
