Brian Lawhorn has joined Christian Academy of Knoxville as its new chief administrative officer. He will be replacing Terry Gibson who will be retiring in the spring after years of faithful service both as our CAO and as a former member of the Board of Trustees.

Lawhorn comes to CAK from the Episcopal School of Knoxville where he has served as the director of finance and operations for the past five years. Prior to that time, he served for 14 years at Northstar Inc as the chief financial officer and executive director. Lawhorn’s experience includes working at the IJ Company and the U.S. Department of Energy.

“I am excited about the addition of Brian Lawhorn to our school executive leadership team,” said CAK Head of School Rich Fulford. “Brian comes to CAK with an extensive background in the business world, in church administration and in private school operations. His wealth of knowledge, combined with this genuine love for Christ, will serve the families and staff of CAK well.”

Lawhorn holds bachelor’s degree in applied organizational management from Tusculum University and an associate degree in computer science from Pellissippi State.

“CAK has had a great mission and influence in the Knoxville area for many years,” said Lawhorn. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to help impact the lives of students, not only academically, but most importantly spiritually.”

Lawhorn lives in Knoxville with his wife, Pam. Together, they have two daughters and five grandchildren. The Lawhorns attend Shoreline Church and enjoy traveling in their free time.
