Maryville senior is TSBA winner

Jackson Shue, a senior at Maryville High School, has won the Student Recognition Award from the Tennessee School Boards Association. The TSBA honors a student each year for achievement in academics, community leadership and engagement.

He is a National Merit semifinalist, president of the senior class and student council president. The son of Stan Shue and Sheila Franklin, he plans to major in music and business administration in college. He plays with the Knoxville Youth Symphony and is an Eagle Scout.

Jackson has volunteered with the local middle school afterschool program, his church for Blount County Family Promise, and the “Maryville Games.” He is the French Horn/Mellophone section leader of his school band, and has initiated and led several brass choirs that have played for special events in Knoxville.

He received a $2,000 scholarship from TSBA, a $2,000 scholarship from Education Networks of America and a plaque in recognition of his achievements.
