Giving back: First Horizon supports community

Dave MillerBlount, Our Town Leaders

Like many, I see November as a time to reflect and to consider the many things for which I am grateful. Among them are my family and friends, but I am also filled with gratitude for the 28 years I’ve been at First Horizon.

I am grateful to work for an organization that prioritizes community service. Giving back is embedded in our DNA and is woven into everything we do here at First Horizon. We encourage our associates to get involved and this year, our East Tennessee associates will volunteer over 2,000 hours annually to local nonprofits. Many of them use their time and talents to serve on nonprofit boards, be a part of the United Way funds allocation process, and facilitate financial literacy trainings.

We demonstrate our commitment to uplifting the communities in which we live and work through the First Horizon Foundation. The Foundation grants over $1 million each year to help lift up those in need in East Tennessee. At the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic last year, we also invested an additional $350,000 to support childcare for essential workers, broadband accessibility and emergency food boxes.

Earlier this month we were recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Great Smoky Mountain Chapter with its Outstanding Foundation award. We were humbled to be recognized by an organization that has made such a mark on East Tennessee and philanthropy. Our Maryville president Greg Wilson was also honored for his service to the Blount Memorial Foundation, illustrating our commitment to the community runs deep.

We are truly grateful for the support of our community members and associates, and appreciate all those working to make a difference in East Tennessee.
