  • Food City and Dietz & Watson will present spiral-cut hams and a $100 gift card to five families of first responders or military personnel who need assistance. Winners were selected from those nominated by listeners of WJXB-FM. The presentations will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at the Food City at 284 Morrell Road.
  • Rick Dover will formally open Hyatt Place Knoxville with a ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 320 S. Gay Street, the site of the century-old Farragut Hotel. Dover developed and owns the property, which will be managed by Indiana-based White Lodging.
  • Jonathan Frye is the new executive chef for the Knoxville Convention Center. Frye previously served as sous chef for the SMG-managed facility. Prior to joining the Knoxville Convention Center in 2017, he served as park chef at Dollywood for six years, working in multiple restaurants within the facility, as well as at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort.
  • Bill Bruce, Knoxville principal of CRJA-IBI Group Architects, has announced the addition of landscape architect Chris Hall. He comes from the SWA Group in Los Angeles where he worked as a project designer for five years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky and a master’s of landscape architecture from Louisiana State University.
