- Wild Wings is coming to Powell. Knox County Commission has approved the on-premises beer permit for KPow Wings LLC, owner of the new location at 119 E. Emory Road. The applicant said the local restaurant should open in mid-December.
- Fountain City will light the community Christmas tree at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at the gazebo in Fountain City Park. There will be live seasonal music, hot chocolate and cookies. Santa is expected. The events is co-sponsored by the Fountain City Lions Club and Fountain City Town Hall.
- Fountain City BPA will present its annual Claude C. Myers award for businessperson of the year at its annual after-hours networking event, 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Commercial Bank, 5320 N. Broadway. Admission is free for members and guests with prize tickets for $1 and numerous silent auction items. Officers for 2018 will be introduced.

- Powell BPA 35th annual Man, Woman and Business Person of the Year banquet is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Tennova North. The speaker will be Joan Cronan. - Summit Medical Group and Summit Strategic Solutions officials broke ground Nov. 10 on a new two-story, 50,000-square-foot office building being built on eight acres at 1275 Dick Lonas Road. Dr. Wesley Dean chairs the board of Summit’s parent company, Healthcaring Ventures. The project is financed by First Tennessee Bank. BarberMcMurry is the architect, and Blaine Construction is the general contractor.
