Sunday talk shows (a day late)

  • You know it’s a slow news week when the most excitement on the Sunday talk shows is Don Bosch’s baby blue socks.
  • Former Nashville Mayor Karl Dean was the guest on Inside Tennessee. He gave Gov. Haslam high marks on education and health care leaving one to wonder how he differs from the Republican he seeks to replace.
Dean estimated “$10- to $20 million” to run for governor. Just another reason you won’t see Tim Burchett in that race.
  • Cliff Rodgers on Tennessee This Week was highly excited about the upcoming city council races. “It’s a wonderful day in the neighborhood,” said Mr. Rodgers, unless you live in District 6 where 13 people have qualified to replace Daniel Brown. Early voting is Aug. 9-24.
  • George Korda opined that President Trump pulling the USA out of the Paris Climate Accord won’t matter because “it was a nothing agreement,” not a treaty and never ratified by Congress.
