Galactic adventures at Salem VBS

Kids attending Salem Baptist Church‘s Vacation Bible School this week have been blasting off for galaxies of summer fun with games, crafts, space-themed snacks, music, and of course a focus on missions.

Salem Baptist Church children’s ministry director Kristin Risdahl and VBS director Jennifer Atchley led kids on a galactic adventure.

In fact, rumor has it that there’s a contest afoot. If the boys raise more money for missions, children’s ministry director Kristin Risdahl will get doused in “Galactic Slime” on Friday. If the girls raise the most money, Salem pastor Allen James will get the same treatment.

Risdahl said this year’s VBS has been a great success, with attendance topping 170 kids. The theme may be out of this world, but the message is very real.

“The kids are learning about everything God created and how God created them to be unique,” she said.

Risdahl thanked VBS director Jennifer Atchley for the work she has done, and she thanked the adult volunteers who made the week special.

“We have over 150 adult volunteers,” Risdahl said. “It’s incredible. I’ve never seen people come together like they do at this church.”
