  • Cancel: Beaver Creek float and debris removal, originally set for Saturday, July 29, will be held instead on Saturday, Aug. 12. Details to follow.
  • Grainger County Tomato Festival Saturday, Aug. 29, in Rutledge. Follow Rutledge Pike out of Knoxville and you’ll find it.
  • History Hound Dog costume contest will be a feature event of the East Tennessee History Fair, 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Krutch Park in Downtown Knoxville. Bring your canine in its best historic costume. The contest starts at 10:15 a.m. Prizes by PetSafe. Info: www.easttnhistory.org/historyfair or 865-215-8824.
  • Fun with Farragut’s Fleet, a chance for kids to get up close to big equipment used by the town of Farragut and Knox County, will be held this year at McFee Park, 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. This is a free event with snacks and ID kits. Info: Lauren Cox at lcox@townoffarragut or 865-281-3372.
  • Back to School Bash, sponsored by Mayor Tim Burchett, will be 3-6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Knoxville Expo Center, 5441 Clinton Hwy. The free event is an opportunity for students to get free school supplies, health screenings and more.
