  • Enhance Powell will meet 4-5 p.m. today at LifeHouse Coffee. Guests will include Doug Bataille and Ed McAllister as the talk continues about clearing Beaver Creek for kayaking. All are invited.
  • Powell History Club will meet 2-3 p.m. today at The Front Porch, Spring Street at Emory Road. David Hackett will be speaking on the history of Emory Road. All are invited.
  • Knox County school board will vote today on a contract to extend the International Baccalaureate Program at Bearden Middle School. Board members were grumpy at Monday’s workshop and this vote could be close. The school board meets at 5 p.m. at the City County Building main assembly room.
  • Mayor Tim Burchett will speak to the Fountain City Business & Professional Association at 11:45 a.m. today at Central Baptist Church, 5364 N. Broadway. Lunch is $10.
  • Halls Republican Club will host candidates for Circuit Court clerk 7-8 p.m. Monday, July 17, at the Boys & Girls Club of Halls-Powell, 1819 Dry Gap Pike. Come for refreshments at 6:30. Candidates are Don Ridings, Scott Smith, Charlie Susano Jr. and Tim Wheeler.
